Properly registered voters should receive a mail ballot packet by:
Primary Election packet: July 23, 2024
General Election packet: October 18, 2024
Your ballot packet will consist of a ballot, a ballot secrecy sleeve, and a prepaid return ballot envelope.

How to Vote
Review the instructions, contests, and candidates on your ballot and make your selections in blue or black ink. If you make a mistake on your ballot DO NOT USE WHITE OUT; instead see below for reissuing instructions.
After voting, fold the ballot and place it in the ballot secrecy sleeve. Insert the ballot secrecy sleeve into your return envelope and sign the cover of the return envelope.

Ballots can be returned by mail or dropped off at a designated place of deposit. Voted ballots must be received by the County of Hawai'i Elections Division by 7:00pm on Election Day to be counted.
If You Need Your Ballot Reissued or Invalidated
If your ballot was sent to the wrong address, or lost, or you made a mistake when voting, you may request a replacement ballot be mailed to you or call (808) 961-8277 to make other arrangements. If you are moving away from the islands or permanently unable to vote, you will need to print and sign an Affidavit for Cancellation of Voter Record and submit it to the Elections Division.
If the election is within the next seven days and you require a new ballot, you may vote in person at one of the Voter Service Centers or call (808) 961-8277 to make other arrangements.
Ballot Processing
Once your ballot is received by the Elections Division, your signature is verified to confirm your identity. After your signature is verified, your ballot is sent to the Counting Center to be counted.
